Description of the Best Practice:

“We are committing to close the Play Gap, advancing gender equality and the UN Global Goals.”

The idea and concept of the Global Goals World Cup (GGWCUP) stands on the shoulders of the thousands of women who have been part of our network and work since 2004, when EIR first started revolutionizing recreational football to inspire women to feel the power of being a team and expanding the scope of what sport can do and who belong in the world of sport. The GGWCUP is a five-aside football tournament for all-women teams. The teams qualify to play by choosing one of the 17 United Nations’ Global Goals, also known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The teams are scored in four categories: Action, Crowd, Style, and Football. Leading up to match day each team champions their Global Goal and is ranked by the action taken for the Goal on and off the field.

Description of the Best Practice:

The peoples meeting is a democratic and sustainability festival, where politicians, ministries, NGO’s, civil society, institutions etc. participate to discuss matters that are currently important for the society. This evolves all (or primarily) around Sustainable Development, and therefore, the goals.

The meeting lasts for 3 days over the summer, where everyone meets at an island called Bornholm and spends the day (and some of the night) discussing, learning, and sharing their knowledge and competencies in the agenda of a more democratic and sustainable future. Both for Denmark, the political life here and for the world. This is a very unique way for top politicians, businesspeople etc. to meet the civil society on an equal platform and share and listen, which is very important for the development of Danish society.

E.g., The prime minister is always present and are spending 3 days just meeting and listening to the civil society and participating in debates.
